Fashion Recap: The Best Dressed at amfAR’s Hong Kong Charity Ball

Last week the nonprofit organization, amfAR’s (American Foundation of AIDS Research) charity ball took place and attendees included numerous socialites and celebrities who were present to support the cause to end AIDS. Headliners like Victoria Beckham were seen with Hong Kong Cantopop singer, Coco Lee.

Coco Lee attended the event in a tight red bodycon dress that she paired with a large statement necklace, but her best accessory was a cleavage-revealing neckline as well as a natural hourglass figure. Victoria, who chose a low-cut navy dress from her own collection was seriously one of the best dressed that night, placing less emphasis on the color of her dress while confidently flaunting how great the tightly-fitted flatters her shape.

The Top 5 Best Dressed

Socialite Marie Zhuge’s silver and white satin gown was amongst one of the most classiest that night. Her sleeveless sequins top shined as hard as the cameras flashed before her! She accessorized with a matching small handle box purse and watch. A side part is just about the simplest way to match the elegance of her dress.

Although twins Laurinda Ho and Orlando Ho weren’t a couple, but they prove that siblings can be just as beautiful and handsome as couples are. Laurinda’s low-cut nude embroidered flared gown from Ashistudio is gradually becoming a favorite brand for Hong Kong celebrities. (Check out socialite Cathy Tsui floundering in a similar one recently here.) Although her white feathery clutch is more than enough since her gown made a huge statement, she balanced the look with simple Louboutin’s famous nude platform heels.

There’s nothing like a classic well-tailored black tux from Dolce and Gabbana that Orlando subtly rocked.

Thai model and actress, Poyd (also known as Treechada Petcharat), wore one of the brightest and most colorful outfits that night though the long chiffon gown probably took a while to get around in. The yellow gold floral sheer piece is by Reem Acra.

Michelle Yeoh’s unique crochet and chiffon dress from Schiaparelli Couture is a bit ambiguous and the crochet on chiffon match for the dress is usual, but the colors were still subtle and beautiful. Still, her biggest asset and accessory that night was her smile. The butterfly pooch on her left shoulder was also a nice touch!

Top model Liu Wen had a quirky taste when it came to her dress selection that evening. Opting out of both the famous bodycon style and breezy chiffon silhouettes, she came in a one-of-a-kind Calvin Klein black and silver satin dress. The details of the dress included abstract florals, a side leg slit and the ever-trendy bell-sleeves. Perhaps models are always ahead of the fashion curve so their taste is hard to grasps and understand, let alone wear, but the dress appeared as casual as her straight hair. The red lip was exactly the kind of color that needed balance the dreariness of her dress, however.
