Dewy Summer Glow Makeup

Depending on which part of the globe you live in, the hot summer makes us feel like we want to wear the least amount of makeup possible. While many people love a matte foundation and I do for photography and selfie purposes simply because they get the job done with minimal photoshopping required, there is nothing more comfortable and easy on the eyes than a soft, lustrous, dewy look for the summer.

The humid and sticky summers here in LA definitely makes me feel lazy and want to wear as little makeup as possible; yet at the same time, I want that sunkissed glow, wet dewy finish that makes me look somewhere between youthful, fresh and natural.

I’ve definitely been playing up the summer dewy finish for many years now but with different products, distinguishing which products give the best, biggest, transformative effect.

#1 Boots Botanics All Bright Radiance Balm

While browsing through Target’s beauty section, I stumbled upon the brand Boots, which isn’t as talked about as other more famous and established brands like L’oreal, Maybelline, and Revlon. After testing it out on my finger, I was excited to experiment it on my face by wearing it on one side of my face to see if there is a difference. The balm definitely lives up to its name and elevates the entire face forĀ an overall more awake, fresh, and natural glow!

Apply after moisturizer and before foundation or mix with foundation and apply together.

#2 Boots Botanics Age Defense Foundation

I’ve definitely been on a roll in testing out Botanics products for two reasons: 1) I haven’t heard many people talk about them thus, causing a storm of curiosity for me and 2) it’s minimalistic white and green packaging as well as it’s plant-based ingredients.

Being in my mid-twenties, I wasn’t looking for an Age Defense Foundation. I picked this up because I’ve been looking for a thinner foundation for the summer and while the L’oreal Infalliable Pro-Matte is great for photos, it’s application is more rigid and less smooth. This foundation definitely has lower coverage similar to that of a tinted moisturizer, but for someone with decent skin to begin with, it adds a beautiful, natural layer of skin.

#3 NYX Cream Blush in “Natural”

Before I found any specific radiant cream for an all over radiant glow, I relied on a simple cream blush for a small hint of dewiness on my cheeks for several years. While it works wonders, wearing the Botaniacs Radiant Balm makes an all-over difference that I wouldn’t want to compromise. This one by NYX is super affordable and comes in a variety of colors although mine is simply in the color “Natural.” You can’t really go wrong with that if you have pale skin like myself.

#4 Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighter

I’ve had this product in my collection for a few years and when I first bought it, I was more excited about the packaging than the product itself. I now, how vain. I didn’t use the product a lot when I initially bought it because I didn’t see the need to incorporate a highlighter in my daily makeup routine, but if you’re going out at night and taking photos, this product really shows up! A little definitely goes a long way so start with a little to build it up. The champagne color is a very classic shade for highlighting above the cheeks!

What do you think?

What kind of look do you go for in the summer? What are your must-have products?

  • I’ve actually heard really good things about the NYX blush and it’s nice to know that you also stand behind it. Will definitely have to check it out.
