5 Body Products That I’ve Repurchased Again and Again

Over the next few weeks, AF will have a series where I will write about the beauty and skincare products that I’ve repurchased again and again.

#1 Michael Todd Walnut Grapefruit Body Scrub

I first started using this body scrub 2-3 years ago and before that I felt like this step was merely for gimmick and just another step beauty marketers create to elongate your daily body care process, but after my first bottle you’ll definitely want to trade in your money for baby skin again. It’s advised to use this once or twice a week (no more than that) to get rid of dead skin. I usually do this step right before using body wash so that I don’t end up cleaning an old layer of skin that I’m about to remove.

This body scrub is one of those secrets that I keep from my family and friends and when they compliment me for my soft skin, they think it’s natural. I simply shrug and pretend it is. But nah.

The product is definitely affordable at $14, but they have sales often and random 25% here and there. The best bet is to catch a sale and I buy them in bulk (4 at a time) to obtain free shipping because they are an online brand.

#2 Suave Essentials Body Wash – Cocoa Butter and Shea

I’m not particular about my body wash as its more of functional product for me. It’s great if it has a nice scent (but unless it’s almond or cocoa butter and shea, every other scent smells like original to me), but the most important part is that it’s smooth, doesn’t try out my skin, and is inexpensive — because it’s a step in our body care that needs to be practiced daily (or at least I hope that’s the case for you as well). 😉

#3 Gillette Venus Sensitive Disposable Razors

Perhaps there are cheaper razors out there, but since I don’t have a large surface of area to shave (no legs shaving), it takes a while for me to go through one of these. It takes at least 6-8 months before the shaver loses its sharpness and functionality.

I shave 1-2 times a week and since it’s shaving on sensitive areas (lets not go into the specifics), I’ll rather pay a little more for quality razor.

#4 Nivea Smooth Daily Moisture Body Lotion

I’m not one who loves putting on lotion after a shower because of the large surface area needed to be covered and the time it takes. Because I’m not picky about my lotion and only go through the application motions during the winter months when my skin is super dry and flakey (eww, I know), this is more of a family buy from Costco than a personal one.

I’ve used many types of lotions throughout the years and during college, I was very into the various fun flavors that Bath and Body Works offers. Fun, sure. But their lotion formula never worked for me, at least not once after I washed my hands. Reapplication is not something I have time for.

Nivea’s body lotion is one of those where the moisture absorbs into the skin and I don’t need to reapply more than once a day for smooth hands.

#5 Organix Shampoo and Conditioner – Brazilian Keratin Therapy

I wouldn’t say I love every shampoo-conditioner set by Organix, but their unique round bottle packaging has caught my attention for a long time before I finally gave it a try. I’m never picky about my shampoos nor conditioners because I’m blessed with soft hair and straight Asian girl hair (not even trying to brag) — that is until I decided to get a perm. Because I’ve been coloring my hair more frequently and I noticed my usual go-to Head and Shoulders 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner is too harsh for my hair, I wanted something that will maintain the shine and color.

Organix’s Brazilian Keratin shampoo and conditioner did quite the trick for me. There are many ingredients that seems to nourish, but what I love most about this specific line is the cocoa butter and coconut oil that my hair seems to react well to. It really softens, both in the aftermath and during the process of shampooing.

The extra step in using a separate conditioner (as opposed to a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner) is well worth it. However, if I didn’t have my hair permed or dyed it a high maintenance color, I have no problem going back to using the 2-in-1 just to save time.

I want this shampoo and conditioner!

For haircare, I’ve recently been obsessed about Dove’s Quench Absolute Conditioner. My hair is super coarse and thick and semi-damaged. I’ve never met anyone with hair as thick as mine and woe is my hairdresser who has to cut my thick@$$ hair every so often. But anyways, this stuff saves the ends of my hair and gives it that softness that I’m unable to find from any other conditioner. When I go to Asia, I’m going to try some of their famous cherry blossom haircare products because I hear they’re amazing. You have any recommendations?

    • Ivana, I haven’t had a chance to try any cherry blossom haircare products, but you can’t miss out on beauty shopping when you’re in Asia. It’s beauty land!

Ooh for razors, you should try the Schick Intuition shaving system. I tried Venus but it didn’t give me the great intuitive skin shave that Schick Intuition razor did. It’s the way the razor is built which makes it really easy and as the name implies, intuitive to use. Gives you great control and greater surface area shave without any possibility of nicking your skin. The block of moisturizing cream on top also provides an additional cushion.

    • Thanks for the recommendation, Ivana. Anything that claims “intuition”, I will fall for haha. I recently bought a blush because it’s name was “intuition” so I laughed a little when I read your recommendation of the system and its name. I was curious so I googled it and the price isn’t as alarming as I expected.
